Attempted but not finished

I recently tried to fold Lang's cuckoo clock. After getting very close to the end, I realized that my paper choice would not allow for a well scuplted clock. So, I plan to try it again sometime with an alternative paper choice. I was also quite amazed by how peices of the end product seemed to just grow out of the pleats. This was my first really complex box pleating model, so I found the whole process quite interesting.
Same here. I have about 15 models on my "origami" table and only 2 finished. I guess I completed only 10% of my attempts from Robert Lang.GreyGeese wrote:As a newbie, "attempted but not finished" describes about 75% of what I fold, LOL. I am able to do things that I previously couldn't, though, so there is hope. (I find everything by Lang difficult, even models he categorizes as "easy".)
I took me about 10 tried to finally finish the praying Mantis from "the complete book of origami". From the same book, I'm at my 12 attempts on the butterfly and me thinks 13 will be good...
Now, I fold some Satoshi and "succeeded" on two models at the first try! Namely the chocobo and one of the dinosaur thing. Still I have already two failed attempts on smilondon and almost one on the boar.

When i first started folding i could not finish some of the complex models. I would get about half way through them and then realize its kinda messy, and then give up. Later i would try the model again, and i could finish it. I think its a good idea to take a break from a model and then come back to it with a fresh mind to it. Practice always helps, and over time you'll get better

I stopped before the finishing stages of Kamiya's Little Bird...I came back and finished it, with moderate success...only to have my cat gnaw off an entire foot....I should have left it unfinished...
