There's one about 10 feet away from me right now. :)
Yes, I am that Joseph Wu. Not that it really matters. And please call me Joseph or Joe. "Mr. Wu" is my dad. :)

Joseph, I'm so jealous. Name the price whenever you feel like selling it!

:) Sorry...not going to happen. Anytime you're in town, you're welcome to look at it.

Thanx Joseph. I've never seen a copy in real life. In fact, I dont even know what models are inside, but I've been trying to get my hands on a copy for well over 10 years now!
So when I'm around your area, I'll definitely come have a look. Thanx for the invitation!

from what i understand, the currently available genuine origami has a lot of repeat models from viva! origami (only a fool who has a copy would part with it, in all honesty).

it's probably the closest to a reprint that we're going to get.

I was able to check a copy of Viva! Origami out from the public library once before. They didn't have it in the Los Angeles Public Library system, but they did an interlibrary loan with one of the other library systems. I also used to check out Kawahata's Origami Fantasy all the time within the LAPL.

the problem is, I really want the book. Not to fold from, but more as a collectible!
Thanx for the advice anyway Jared.

The BOS mailing library have a copy that would enable you to at least see the book. I think you have mentioned that you are a member before, as they are to publish a booklet of yours at some point.

Of course this wouldn't help you in securing a copy to own.

Who Owns a Copy of Viva Origami

Post by gordigami »

Quentin,
I believe that OUSA lending library has a copy of Viva Origami to lend out.
You might want to contact Jun Maekawa directly for information/purchase possibilities.
Good luck !
May I wish success to all who cope with the mountains & valleys of Life,
with all its peaks & depths, as well as Origami .

I wish you luck on this. I think some of the other books in the series sold for nearly $1,000 at the 2007 OUSA convention.
