Hmm, are you looking at Unit Polyhedoron Origami? My book is first edition, printed July 2006. The unit is in chapter 3, Regular Dodecahedron Structures Made from 30 Rhomboid Units.
Well I tried folding a five pointed module with the equilateral triangle unit and it's no good. It will only stay closed or open. Reviewing the video, it looks more like an isosceles triangle unit. Back to the drawing (folding?) board!
Thanks Redgator. I think we're getting close with those. But I tried both versions and they're still not right. I'll post a video of the problem and maybe we can find a solution.
well i've been on a trip for a while but i do know somewhat how it was made. it was made using glue:-( its works by using like 12 groups of origami then gluing them all together
Yes it will definitely need glue. The popping open and closed would tear a modular apart. I was able to get a working unit using the 45 degree isosceles unit linked above. Now just to make 12 more
