You could also say "You mean those big metal things that lift heavy objects? Are you nuts?!"

For me, the only model that always gets a favourable reaction, no matter how skeptical the audience, is Fumiaki Kawahata's Jedi Master Yoda.
Everyone I have showed that to loves it, even folded from scrap paper.

I don't share it with a lot of people but I once folded the Maekawa devil (which I know by heart) at workfor what he thought was the coolest guy on earth (in fact: I didn't like him one bit). He made a paper plane and I wanted to beat him and I said I could make something way cooler...

He looked at the wings and fingers of the demon for ten minutes with his jaw on the floor...

my reactions are:

"oh, again with your childish games!"
"ah, japanese isn't it? sure a nice work for girly boys like you or old women. like knitting"
"oh if i had your patience... after 1 minute i would tear down that stupid square!"
"you really don't have nothing to do in life, do you?"
"you are not normal. they wouldn't take you even if you were for free"
"what is it? ah, mazinger, beautiful" (on everymodel)
"you should go to the hospital for mental care"
"you are not normal"

non verbal reactions include giggling between beta/gamma/etc. males, with whispered "ahah look at that homosexual"
or people smiling at each other and making a gesture that here means "he's not sane, like an handicapped" (this is what hurts the most, my brother has down syndrome and it's my best superhero)

i get to see and briefly work with around 200 human beings per day, from factory workers to white-collar power guys.

the only good reactions i get are from the kind people who actually take the time to hear a 2 minute explanation of what origami is.
they are usually the "less" important workers around, toilet cleaners, youngsters (on thir first job)
unfortunately part of them would like to get in touch with me for other kind of reasons (80% sex, 20% let's make money out of it)

people outside work who think they know me smile with pity and say "so beautiful" not looking at the model but touching my shoulder with their hands.

friends are happy, but i don't have that many friends.

sometimes i think about sartre.
but then my hands begin folding, my heart gets some freedom and my mind likes to think it's getting in touch with an author far more smart than me.

living in italy after 40 years of conscious systematic destruction of our educational system has really brought up some delightful people to meet and talk to.

but that's not going to stop me.
