Those are really great roses! However, I got nothing. I tried a full websearch for the name Phu Tran and got a blank.
Does the artist have a book?
Were did the picture you displayed come from?
I myself would like to know how to create that rose. Did you try this website?

Phu Tran lives out here in Southern California, near Riverside, if I remember correctly. He was at the last WCOG meeting (as was I for the first time in almost a year) and taught his rose. He hasn't diagrammed it, but Boaz/Mike said that he had a crease pattern somewhere... He just had the roses and frog. Definitely doesn't have a book. He is a member of this forum though (Check the personal websites forum.)

Dear hunprat, I was looking at models you folded and I noticed a bunch of them are folded out of a white paper, and at some places it looks sorta translucent (some of the models are the unicorn, icarus, and the last waltz). Is the paper you used wax paper, or tracing paper or is it somthing else, and does it fold well? (or am I talking about something I don't know! ) Just wondering, and I love your rose and the models you folded!

Hi FunkeeFolder,
The unicorn and icarus are from "Parchment Paper" from Reynolds wrap.
Parchment paper are wax paper use for baking and they come in a row of 24 feet by 15 in. I like the paper because they are thin and strong. They are good for making most complex model. They don't tear easy and are forgiving if you make a mistake. Also the paper is quite cheap, you can buy a roll at any supermarket like Vons for a few dollars. It is one of my favorite paper to fold with.
The last waltz is actually made from a white paper bag. I just cut the bag to get a large 3 by 1 rectangle.
My rose are made from regular color printer paper.
Most of my folds are from normal cheap paper. I have not gotten a hold of more expensive paper to fold with.

Wow! That is a great idea to fold from parchment paper! We have a whole roll of the stuff now I can't wait to fold with it! Oh and who said you had to get expensive paper for folding. Hey your models look great with the parchment paper! Thank you hunprat!
Happy folding!

I feel obligated to point out that baker's parchment paper and wax paper are very different. Wax paper is paper coated with wax. Baker's parchment paper is usually impregnated with silicone, which is inert and resistant to high temperatures. They are different both in terms of folding and cooking.hunprat wrote:Parchment paper are wax paper use for baking and they come in a row of 24 feet by 15 in.
