Or they could both be based on the quite common waterbomb corrugation/tessellation/whatever you want to call it.

Swallowtail Butterfly by Meguro Toshiyuki

You need a very thin and strong paper for this model, note that my foil paper teared at the middel part (near the head/antennae)
I modified the wings

(test fold)

The finished butterfly should look like this....

That's one insect I will have fun folding. I quite enjoy Meguro's work.

ops...
i had a look at an old italian origami book from 1980 by kunihiko kasahara and found out that those penguins are there, so i guess frantisek grebenicek is not the author

Nice Penguin setup, Araknoid! :D Thats alot of penguins. How long do you figure it took you to fold all the penguins, and set up the backdrop?
My Flickr

Hi! It's been a long while since I've been active on here. I deleted my Dropbox years ago, so some things, like my Dragonfly Varileg guide, are lost to time. I may still have other things, though! Email me if you have any questions.

thank you!
it took me 3 or 4 hours, the landscape is only one very large sheet of white thin paper over some books and the aurora some a3 sheets... every penguin was like 10 minutes or so :)

Hah, that's the first model I ever learned to fold. It's a lovely model. I really like the way you displayed them.

Pig!

Dragon!

I folded a Toucan with mesh paper...This paper is VERY tough to fold with, but is great for simple models that you want for artistic purposes.

Cat!

All of the models are Montroll's designs. :)

Is there a point where your folds become more precise and things match up exactly? You can see the face of the cat has a gap in it. That's not supposed to be there...I thought the folding was going well, but apparently hot. And the left ear is actually sunk further down and behind the right ear. Again, I thought I was doing a good job with my folds, buuut...

So yeah - is there something I can do to improve this or just fold more and more until I start to become better at these skills? 8)
