A good start would be to do a blintzed frog base, unfold it and make something out of the 4 bird bases that result from it.

With 8 flaps you do not need to be a genious to make something.

Sadarac, do you want help or not? This video isn't two minutes long and tells you how to make one essential base. You should really watch it.

my manta ray starts from a bird base then by using sinks, squashes, and a twist it becomes a piece of art.

Well, so first it would be better for you to solve this problem with your computer, because videos are surely the best way learn origami, if you do not have anyone that could teach it to you.
Surely this problem comes from not right setting of your security system (antivisrus, firewall, and so on)

Or it could just be a slow internet connection, which is perhaps less readily solvable. I learned origami from diagrams alone (apart from the crane, which was the first thing I folded) and did just fine. Perhaps videos are better for learning the basics, but diagrams are also adequate, if not just as good since you will also be learning the universal printed language of origami. Pictures also load faster than videos, so diagrams would be more friendly to a slow internet connection.

OK, step 10 of this model is a blintzed frog base: http://www.pajarita.org/aep/nacionales/espa15-1.pdf
In step 6 you have to free the uppermost layer. It is easier to unfold the model a bit to do so.

There is a different method to arrive the blintzed frogbase here: http://www.angelfire.com/co/cubo/Bfbase.html

You should try both methods.

Re slow video loading:

I think that we all assume that everyone has broadband internet connections, but there are still many, many dial-up connections which make watching a video extremely tedious.
May I wish success to all who cope with the mountains & valleys of Life,
with all its peaks & depths, as well as Origami .
