Robert J. Lang - Camel Spider (CP)

Anyone attempted Robert Langs Camel Spider?

Looks kind of hard and im going to attempt it later, just wondering whether theirs anything to look out for when folding it.

After looking at the CP I lost any interest I had left

I personally am not a fan of the two new insect pieces. They look a little sloppy in folding (which coming from Lang is shocking) and they look a little squished and flat. The camel spider in particular: it also has unshaped legs. I'm an admirer of most of Lang's work but I found this to be a bit disappointing :/

I have one tid-bit of information. Use big paper; the grid is 56ths. A 28 inch square is pretty manageable for a model of that grid size, because then the 56ths are 0.5 inches across.

Oh, and also, if you are going to attempt this model, pay attention to the diamond shapes, especially at the ends of them; the is a 1/112th distance between the end of it and the next 56th.

Edit: Darn it! I counted wrong. The grid is 58ths.

Impressive!
But I think this time Lang has not hit the mark.
His new (amazing) model in my opinion seams more a big mutant ant, instead of a camel spider.

I agree that Lang's doesn't look too good-at least from that angle, but I am not entirely convinced about Yagorigamania's, either. Yagorigamania's has short legs (particularly the 3 short legs in the middle of each side). That is a design flaw-no amount of folding will solve it. But I think Lang's design may have potential if it is folded with more attention to shaping.

Well, here's my first attempt, not sure how Lang made the 3 middle legs bigger, The cp was pretty difficult but gave me something to do for 2 hours.

Dang it, you beat me, and drank all the punch that was at the table! I feel cheated. Anyway, they are not criticizing Robert Lang, they are simply acknowledging that this designs is not as good as his others. It might even be seen as a compliment!
