avenged sevenfold logo origami

Post by kitsune134 »

well, my friend and i are fans of a metal band called Avenged Sevenfold, or a7x for short, and i have been trying to a good base for their logo which is basically a skull with bat wings coming out of the sides.

A bird base with larger flaps for the wings as a basic idea.
You would have to work a lot on the eyes and skeleton details and color changes wohooo.

Perhaps thats too much simplified...

Thats just a little brainstorm.

here's an intermediate skull : http://www.spiraclemusic.com/webwalk/skullsy1.htm

And a bat: http://www.progonos.com/furuti/Origami/ ... 50908A.pdf

If you could isolate the wing from the bat and then extricate two flaps on the skull to make the wings you'd be set. I'm not sure how advance of a folder you are. Shouldn't be too hard though.

It looks like the models mrsriggins recommends both come from the bird base, so I would recommend you to try and fold them to see which parts you absolutely need and which can you dispose of. Obviously for the wings you need thwo flaps of the bird base, so if I were you, I would check for that in the skull model, to see if I can get the two flaps without affecting the end result too much. If you are good with CP's you can just fold and unfold both of them to see their CP's and figure out a way to combine them.

Ok. . .(wow this thread died a swift and not-so-painful death) I've pretty got it base down (a bird base) and used an altered version of this skull that is supposed to be made from a kite base and drawn on. The back flap forms the lower jaw and teeth. As soon as i can borrow a camera and get some decent paper I'll post a picture and see what you guys think, ok?

Ahhhh! this is my favorite band!!!! I once made a small deathbat (that is what the skull is called) but it wasn't really origami... what I did, was take a small plastic skull, and mold a rectangle of tissue foil around it, making an imprint of a skull on the paper. I used the remaining flaps of paper sticking out of the side to make the wings. Unfortunately, I lost the skull, and the model, when finished is quite fragile, and it got crumpled..... ...and since I couldn't find the skull again, I couldn't make more of them..... If I ever find this skull again, I will post pics up!

Mammaoca2008 (one of my Flcikr contacts) made this model that could fit this description.

I took some time to design a rough draft of what the model could look like!

ok, i just found out that i cant upload pictures from my phone unless i install something (which i cant do since i am not an administrator on my computer) or get a memory card for my phone. *eye twitch*

by the way, how did you get the wings so big, max?

and i can not enter my entry for the contest T.T due to the suckiness of my situation.

i would borrow my little sister's digital camera, but her friend lost its card and it's old, so newer cards wont work on it, either.

Actually i just used a square of the paper to form the base of the head. The wings are made by the other two squares...
