Eric Gjerde's book is not only very beautifully made but explains the basics in an easy way to get started with your own tessellations. Additionally he shows some impressive works to give you an idea what is possible with these simple bricks.

Other books to the subject of Tessellations are by Shuzo Fujimoto, but I don't know how good they are (go to Japanese Books): http://origami-shop.com/

Hello to you all!

I am new here but have been following this topic for some time. I finally decided to put some pictures. Here's my second attempt at folding Satoshi Kamiya's Ancient Dragon.

Welcome to the forum Zealot. your dragon looks fine. Curve the tail a bit and it will look better.

My first time using tissue-foil paper, and first time finishing the Blue Whale by SK.

(kinda ironic because they're grey irl... and when I went to the museum of Nat. History last weekend; the display showed them eating a giant squid... do I have to make a squid model now and but it in the whale's mouth?)

Blue whales are baleen whales, so they pretty much only eat plankton. Also, they are blue-ish. Blue-grey. Sperm whales eat giant squid. And they're grey. I think you're mixing the two up. (They look nothing alike)

oops, my mistake, I think you're right, it was most likely a sperm whale, because it was much smaller then the giant Blue Whale they had hanging about the ceiling, and it had a bunch of sharp teeth ^_^;

Hi there, I'm Kim.
I've been reading this forum for about a year now and, as you can tell by my single digit on the left there, haven't posted much. I've decided its time I started to participate a bit. And, since there doesn't seem to be an formal 'introduction' thread, I' decided to use this one and take the opportunity to share a couple of my recent projects.

Here's my folding of Mooser's Train:

And this is a Torus made from 555 PHiZZ units. The design for the Tours was done by Roberto Gretter based on Tom Hull's work. I used Roberto's colors to help me keep track of where I was on his diagam. But I loved the colors anyway, so it worked out well :)

I won't be a 100-posts-per-week kind-of guy (or 50, or even 10; maybe 1 or 2), but I will try and contribute some since I've enjoyed the fourm so much. Anyway, thanks for so much information and inspiration over the last year!

Thanks, and nice meeting you all! :)
