Hojyo Takashi - Aquarius (CP)

Post by kingdomwinds »

I folded Hojyo's aquarius from cp but i have no idea how to do the final shaping of the model. I don't know how to make hims hold the bucket. It keeps on falling out of his hands. I saw artur's and hojyo's fold and it does not seem that they used glue. how is this model finally shaped?

Mine is looking like an open tent right now. I just cant keep the bucket in his hands

You probably should have used different paper then. Using tissue foil or wetfolding might help.

I don't think anyone uses foil for this model. Most of the folds seem to be made of normal paper. I even saw a guy fold it with A3 paper. Has anyone folded this model?

Since you are not able to shape the model the way you want with the paper you are using, foil is an obvious solution...
So long and keep folding ^_^

I agree with daydreamer. You are going to need foil if you can't get it

I never saw someone folding this model with a foil.
I just think you should use Methyl cellulose, that might work, give it a touch of wet folding +MC.

Good luck, i am planning to fold it too, very soon :D.

by the way, anyone know if the diagram or crease pattern for the first version of the Aquarius is published ??
i really like it, even more than the last version.

here is the link http://origami.gr.jp/~hojyo/107aquarius.html

He doesn't list any publications, so I doubt it. It looks boxpleated though, shouldn't be too hard to reverse-engineer if you put some time into it

The old Aquarius CP is in the same tanteidan magazine as the new version. There is a small CP that I believe is the older version on the same page.
Below is my attempt with tissue foil. I would advise against it simply because I prefer the crisp look (the water) of Hojyo's whereas mine is more "crumpled".

Wow, I actually like the crumpled look better  ! It looks more like the water is gushing out. Good work!

Thanks!

If I had the determination..I would fold it again, but that water is just too much to think about.

I have folded it exactly to the cp, but my stream of water goes back (towards the model) at a 45 degree angle. Is it supposed to do this, or am I missing something?

Planning to make this one soon, along with his god of thunder, and gabriel. Are all three of them 64 x 64 grids?
