For my first attempt on both bahamut and ancient dragon, I used 60x60cm wrapping paper and that size seemed suitable. The paper got a little thick on both of them tho and my shaping wasnt so great, but nonetheless i completed both of them ^_^

I found bahamut more enjoyable to fold but harder to get a good finished model. Ancient dragon was easier for me but took a lot longer; it was a long-winded process but i got a model i was happy with.

My Works of SK is somewhat damaged; it is hard to make the book stay in the position when you have opened the book, so I find something to put on the sides of the book, and suddenly it's rubber in the spine ripped. What a horrible day! (Luckily, my mother adviced me how to make them stay in the position.)

P.S. I'm too lazy to post the picture of my damaged (by me) book.

the greatest thing is that I have had the book quite soon after it was released and I keep refolding most of the designs in it... so I really hope he will come up with a second book.

I don't even mind if these are models that were already published elsewhere...

As far as I know these are the models that have appeared in other volumes:
- Crane
- Twisted Polyhedra
- Cocker Spaniel
- Golden Retriever
- Sleipnir
- Elephant
- Cyclommatus Metalifer (Stag Beetle)
- Samurai Helmet Beetle
- Cicada Nymph
- Hermit Crab
- The Little Bird
- Lion
- Horse

Am I missing any?

These alone would make an amazing book

Paper size would probably be about 70x70cm for a good model. Try to get thin paper because the layering is really thick on some parts. Don't be afraid to try it out. I tried my first Bahamut a week ago and I used 27" wrapping paper and it came out a little odd but with more tried I'll get it. Don't be afraid to try.

What is the Paper:Model ratio for the size of the ancient dragon. Is it close to 1/2 paper size because I want to know if on the first try a 6" square could be used to fold it.

You could start with a 6" square but it is not very recommendable. The model gets insanely thick and most of the details will be hard to shape at this size. For a first try you should at least take a 20" square.

Thanks, Anna, for the recommendation! I have large enough material, but would wrapping paper be too thick for it?

It depends on the kind of wrapping paper, so I can't really say.

Most wrapping papers that I use are very thin, but are too flimsy and waxed.

i have tried both dragons many times with large 20-25 in. paper and medium 12-14 in. paper and i get stuck rather quickly. for the ancient dragon does any one know how to do the "pleate while squashing" step. this is where i always get stuck.

how about going through the threads on each? if you'd done that in the wizard thread, you would have had the good fortune to meet 2-3 other people who had little brothers who mishandled glue around their copies of "works of satoshi kamiya" and you guys could have commiserated about the inadequacies of life.

i am fairly certain all the "difficult" steps in the ancient dragon are explained in the thread on the topic. there are even photo-diagrams.

failing that, i find it hard to believe that you can't fold *any* model from that book. perhaps you should try the swan in there, and work your way up? it is not a failing to not be able to do bahamut or the ancient dragon. certainly, the latter is not even that difficult--just long-winded.
