Those are amazing collections everyone!
I thought that I was an absolute origami nut, but I only own around 30 books, maybe I'll post a pic of my own collection when I get my room cleaned up.

I also have two copies of Origami Design Secrets. I bought the first when it was released at PCOC 2003. The second was a gift from my dad's cousin.

Anna and Gerwin's collection has duplicates of a couple books, because it's a merging of each of their libraries. They both own a copy of ODS; they both have Passion Origami.

And Sara said why she does in her post.

I don't have such a fancy setup as most of you, but here are my pics anyway.

This is where I take my photos.
Best lit location in the house, and I like the shiny benchtop too.

These are my display shelves that are full of Transformers, not Origami.
Collecting Transformers is another hobby of mine.

Here are my few Origami books, among other books of interest.

Here is my Origami Design Secrets. It's currently stored just next to my computer area for easy access.

Here's my Origami Display shelf. Not much on display though.
The other, non-origami things there were not made by me.

Here's my "Main Working Area".
That is to say, my computer desk.
Note the large pile of miscellaneous models by the mouse, the two octopusses, dimetrodon and gryphon up on the right, and the Last Waltz and Mikiller's Gabriel up on the left.
There's also my small collection of foil, from an easter egg, rabbit and a block of chocolate.

This is my paper collection.
The paper in the plastic bag is stuff I've had for years and hardly ever used any of.
The light blue box contains some korean paper that is 15 by 15cm and has different colours on each side.

This is the paper that I use most.
Good old Neon Notes. They're 10 by 10cm, and they live in my bag so that they are always at the ready.

Our newest addition for our Origami "equipment" arrived today.

Image

A portable photo studio which comes in a suitcase with five day-light-lamps and different-coloured backgrounds. Even though we don't intend to carry the thing around with us, it's much easier to stow it away when not in use.

Inside you see the Ancient Dragon by Satoshi Kamiya folded by Anna Kastlunger.

Hopefully you will get to see some good-quality shots of Origami models soon, they only need to be folded first...

The picture below is my first attempt.
It shows Chloe's Star by Bill Reyes folded by me (with small variations) from a pentagon.

So long and keep folding ^_^

That is a slick photo box! I have something similar, although not nearly as cool as yours-it works well, though. Looking forward to some fantastic photos!

That's a nice piece of kit, and if that first picture is anything to go by, well worth the investment. That photo looks great, the crisp chiaroscuro really enhances the look of the form - an interesting model too.
Any chance of subjecting your Tesserassic Palm to the deluxe photographic experience? I think it would really set if off beautifully.

Here you go :)

Note that this is the version that I folded to take with me to the German convention last weekend. The original is already on it's way to the OUSA Convention :-)
So long and keep folding ^_^

This makes it far easier to make it into a transparent image- the background looks like a desert!

Thank you.
It looks great. Even more like a palm than before, and the yellow background makes it seem like it's on a desolate desert island somewhere.
An excellent model.

I've been trying to use household materials to imitate Daydreamer's photo box thing. I have a large lamp directly on top of the Origami piece to light it and surround it with some sort of reflective foil, the result is quite good.

legionzilla, Gerwin's photo box thing is a kind of softbox. Here's is an article teaching how to make a cheap one:

My origami space!

Post by Sara »

I recently moved, and we've finally come round to getting my designated origami area done. I feel so pampered. :)

Here are two shots of the area:

This is the bookshelf close up. [The book lying on the table is "Licence to Fold", so it's not in the shelf. And I've still got some books from Origami USA to pick up from customs (ugh!).] I haven't tried the glue yet, but will do so soon (Anna, I'm counting on you and Gerwin :D ).

And my paper shelf:

Cool, I'm not the only one using Ikea shelving for my paper. :)

this is my incredible workspace.

As you can see, it is cunningly organized to provide maximum efficiency while folding, with easy access to all the tools I might need.

Yeah.

One of these days I'm going to be able to set up a dedicated folding spot... until then, it will have to be shared with my drawing workspace, my painting workspace, my computer stuff workspace, my paper making workspace, my snacking workspace, my schoolwork workspace, and my slacking workspace...
