I'm just wondering whether the thick lines on the CP were valley folds or mountain folds

The crease pattern can be found on the bottom of this page.

Well, it depends if you are looking at the white side or colored side...

If you're looking at the white side, then the thick lines are mountain folds.

If you're looking at the colored side, then they are valley folds.

No, it doesn't matter at all. Whatever works best for you.
If you're folding it so the lines appear on the outside of the design (which might be a good idea for a first runt through it), you should treat the thick lines as valleys and skinny lines as mountains.

ya, it doesn't really matter, just make sure you stuck with what you choose when you are collasping the model.

I've made it before too. Its based off a diagonal 52 grid.

I usually just print out the CP and trace it onto the paper. Quick and easy

Let's see... Can you show me the CP and show which parts (head, abdomen, thorax, legs, wings) are which on the CP? And what size paper should we use?

I should point out that Kamiya lists a referencing ratio right above the picture... 5:4:4, which I assume gives the widths of the sections along the top.

The abdomen is in the middle, the rest of the points are shown here.

I'm actually not sure where the thorax comes from, but if you put it in the bottom corner, the wings will be on top of the legs at the end. The head flap will need to be swung under the abdomen.

Use a 50cm square.
