keep in mind also, that several companies do make colored papers that mimic the qualities of watercolor paper and are excellent for wet folding. I recommend the 'Mi Tientes' line by Canson. They may be named something different in norway, but essentially you are looking for large, textured sheets in a myriad of colors in the watercolor/large drawing paper section of your local art supplier.

Question: Does craft paper actually hold creases? Or does it suffer from Splay Syndrome? I just seem to recall my foldings with plain brown paper not having much staying power. Do people MC the kraft or what?

Proper Kraft paper holds a pretty good crease. Certainly better than most papers I have used. I've been using some 50 gramme stuff recently, and it's wet folded pretty well without MC. I'm about to try it with MC applied however, just to see what difference it makes.

The 29 gramme stuff from Nicholas Terry's shop seems to need MC, but that's just me.

I'd still consider myself a novice so I haven't tried a lot of different things but since I mostly do Modular origami, I like Kami because its light, printer paper and the thicker "fancy" origami paper can be too bulky for some things.

I've been playing with tessellations lately and found that regular cooking parchment (not wax paper) actually works pretty well. its semi translucent and shows all the folds fairly well when held up to the light. it also seems to be able to to recover from being crumpled or manhandled pretty well, I just wish it was a bit thicker.

I like to use parchment paper also . It does hold creases well, and is relatively maelable .

I usually use kami the first time I'm folding something, then fold the same model over again in a bunch of different types of papers to see which works the best.

If your looking for a sorce of thin paper
try "Kite Paper"
Its about as thin as tissue paper with a waxy/transperant look to it
comes in large sheets and a great range of colours.

Comes from either Germany or Netherland traditionally used for.......Kitemaking...go figure.

Holds a fold too well, so unfolding and reversing a crease needs to be done carfully, so as not to make double folds.

If you can find it its worth a try.

usually i just use kami because i have a lot of it but I have got some nice tissue paper so i've started making tissue foil so now i start with kami or some thing that i have a lot of then i decide if i will wet fold or tissue foil

also is craft paper thin enough for an ancient dragon

there are a couple of different kraft papers available in different weights. I have craft paper that has 38g/sq but there is also thicker available.

My taco wrapping paper is the best paper I have. I can get it in big sheets 60x90 cm, and holds shape very well. They sell it by Kilograms ( like 35-40 sheets per kilo) very cheap $1.8 dlls.

I paid like $0.5 dlls for the paper for my 3.5 Ryuzin, Very cheap!!!

The only problem is that it comes in 2 colors only (light brown and light grey)

Are you talking about Mexican dollars (pesos) or US dollars? Because, if those are in pesos, that would make it $.14 USD (14¢) for a kilo and $.04 (4¢) for your Ryu-zin!...Which is cheaper than copy paper.

I wonder if they sell that stuff at the Mexican markets around here...

Yesterady I bought 1 kilogram of this paper I counted 35 or 36 sheets, I don't rember the exact number. I paid $18.5 pesos, in dollars it would be around $1.41 dlls.

For my ryu zin I used 16 sheets, this is almost the half so my Ryu zin cost was something around $0.5 to $0.7 dlls.

In US there is a great chance to find it in mexican markets, in the web I don't think so.

Last week I made during three days 47 sheets of tissue foil in 44 colour combinations:

I made them with white glue rolled onto the foil.
They are ordered so that the colour next to each colour is the colour on the back as well, except the ones that are the same colour on both sides.
