I thought that the grid was a 90/90, but I might be wrong... hmm... there are a couple of CP's out there that have many mistakes, such as the following:

Were you trying to fold from that? Because as Kafar was so kind to tell me, it has mistakes :)

BTW, still no response from that adress that I sent a message to... hmmm

No, I'm pretty sure Origamifreak was right, I've heard many times that its based off a 96 grid. The scales may very well be based on 192nds though

It is based off a 96 grid. Also, I am pretty sure that the scales are based off of a 192 grid. (double 96) :D

I don't know the ratio, but the smallest I would go is 1 meter on each side. I heard somewhere that Kamiya used a 2m square, but that might be too unwieldy.

Kamiya-san used 2mx2m, I'm going to fold it from 2,40mx2,40m, the finished model, fromt the ending tip of the tail to the tip of the jaw is 0,62 of the starting size, so from 2m it will have 1,24m, making it from 4feet sheet would be difficult when shaping the scales, unless you don't want to shape them as in 3,5 but as in 2,1 :D

I'm a little bit busy (studies, Ryu Jin preparations, etc..) and probably I'm going to be busy even more, when I start folding :D

Sounds like fun :). Anyway, like I said earlier, good luck with the 3,5 attempt.

And, as always, a ryu jin question from me :): How big of a piece of paper for a 3,1 attempt? 1.5/1.5M big enough?

If you are going to fold it without the scales(3,5 like) it's ok :D the cp you have on flickr is wrong in the "scales on legs" part and the tail has different cp, satoshi never showed the whole cp for the 3,5 and any part for 3,1-it's just fan made cp :D
