Origami Conventions 2010

Post by childofsai »

So I've started to look at my new 2010 calendar and thoughts have started about where I might like to go this year for travel.

I'd be interested to know what conventions other people may be going to.

The tanteidan convention is a big one on my "bucket list", mainly as I've not travelled to Japan yet despite my interests there. Anyone already know they're going to this?

Of course, there's 5OSME in Singapore, BOS conventions in Spring and Autumn... so much to choose from!

:)

I'll be going to the OrigamiUSA's convention in June, as well as Origami Heaven in Long Island, NY

I'll likely be going also to Centerfold, the convention in Ohio at the end of August.

I'm definitely going to the Spring BOS convention, and I might go to the Autumn one as well.

I'll also be at the OUSA convention, but that's it as far as I know. I also really want to make it to a Tanteidan convention, but it probably won't be this year.

I'd really like to go to OUSA this year, but I'm going to JAMPCON (an anime convention) the month before. It'd be a tight squeeze, but I'll probably go to Centerfold either way.

2009 had a lot of origami conventions for me, so I think 2010 will be a bit more relaxed...

Most definitely going to OUSA 2010 in NYC, and I've committed to going to Centerfold in Ohio in August - that should be a lot of fun! New origami people in the US, I'm very excited about meeting more folders here.

As far as other conventions, I think that will probably have to do me for the year. I had thought about 5OSME but it's just too far and too long on a plane for me to handle - last year's flight to Tokyo for JOAS was about as much as I can take :)

Wherever you are, I highly recommend trying your hardest to get to a convention - it's the best place to be if you love origami! After my first one 4 years ago I've been totally hooked!

OUSA is always the last weekend in June. While they haven't finalized the details for the convention, so that they haven't officially stated the dates, the calendar on the website says 'End of June'.
