I believe Eric Joisel says: "The final step is up to YOU: I am not supposed to do everything!!?? The exciting thing about this model is that yours will be different from everybody else's..." (Tanteiden 13)

Here's my attempt:

Not bad! How come your arms stay in place? When I fold this model, the arms tend to splay around... :(

I think it depends on the paper when it comes to the arms splaying around. The bigger the paper, the less tension in the pleats.

I know that it's up to us to come up with the features, but I just meant the techniques for the flaps themselves. What I'm trying to say, is that some people (like myself) will fold the dwarf, and see these 3 or 4 flaps, and think that you just twist one flap and get a nose, lower one and get a mouth ... etc. Meanwhile everyone on this forum knows how to get a beard, and other features.

I have tried to get a beard for mine, along with a mustache, but it never works out. I had the beard coming from the chest, but it looked like some kind of lump growing out of him, so I sank it back down flat. I would love for my dwarf to have a beard, only because that's how I envision them.

How did you get the pleats on the arms to look like a jacket? Was that from wet folding? I noticed a lot of people have done that.

Just make a little crimp, that should do the trick.

It boils down to experience. You need to fold more models from diagrams, and in a conscious way - not just moving from one step to the next in cookbook fashion, but being aware of how each step contributes to a general overall technique for detailing. Many models utilise similar detailing techniques, for instance, using a double rabbit ear for hind limbs, or a split to obtain claws, and so on. The more such techniques you have in your toolbox, the easier it is to get the details you want.

I think that removing the box in the model " out of geometry" you can get the proportions of de jobbit , if you want you can see the model in my blog , the first video, thanks.

I've left this fold alone for a while, as I didn't feel I had enough experience to do it justice.

New effort below.

I took these pics when I created my gallery. Never thought of putting them here until now. These dwarfs are pretty bad, but the only ones around at the time, so they had to make do...

My apologies for the bad photos.

Here's my best for now.
This one is 8th's version, following Joisel's instructions.

Image

Inside reverse on 3 fingers to make the pointing hand.
First face point makes the nose and hat ending.
Second is sinked.
Third and fourth make the beard.
Around 60cm kraft paper, but it better to do it on 30cm so the legs can hold the body wheight.
I tried not to extend the leg creases so the feet have more consistency.

Now I'm trying this mod:

And this is what it comes out.
Hands too small, arms too large, nice legs, too much points for the face, it sucks.

There is no standard method, but what I do is "dive in" the upmost point to the hat and use the rest of them to form the beard.

Well, hello my namesake! I have folded this model a couple of times now. Are you from Mumbai? You can contact me if you want to fold this together.
