Ignorant of origami

Im not sure if this video has been posted yet but watch about 20 seconds in and anyone who has ever folded a crane before should be laughing at their screen. If a giant news corp cant even get it right what kind of chance do normal people have.

So go ahead and post stories of people who were blatantly ignorant of origami or just plain flabbergasted by anyone who could fold a sheet of paper in half.

I knew the whole thing would be terrible the moment she said ori is japanese for paper. It's pretty much a given that any news show will mess up an origami story.

After watching the "Chupacabra Found?" story right below it, the origami one doesn't seem so bad.

Well, that "Chupacabra" video is solid evidence that most humans aren't that much brighter than their furniture. If those guys can confuse a freaking dog with a blood sucking creature from hell, they should probably be put inside glass terrariums for scientists to observe and study.

OK, it was maybe a little clumsy done but remember that the reporter probably never has seen serious origami. At least it gives the people an insight what is possible with origami beyond the Crane, hat and boat stuff most only know.

She obviously did little to no research at all before the segment was filmed. Ori=paper and gami=to fold? That is not just a sign of clumsiness, it is a sign of incompetence. A simple glance at the Wikipedia article on origami would tell you that origami comes from oru (to fold) and kami (paper).

What really drove me up the wall wasn't so much the factual mistakes, but how she droned on during the entire story and made frequent, nonsensical pauses.

I couldn't find the Model - It seems to be a 16-pointed Star.

Kasahara has an 8-pointed Star "Old Sol" on p. 372 of Origami Omnibus.

Engel has an 8-pointed star on p. 138 of Folding Universe.
