Very nice! Why not take it a step further and make rings from your ring of rings... (i.e. recursive modular origami)

Absolutely beautiful. But where did you get the 19 shades of paper? I checked my usual local paper haunts and couldn't find enough shades to make an effective color wheel type effect.

@Pixion Thanks. Nice idea but a ring of ring of rings needs 6498 units, too many even for a modular nut like me :shock:

@zwy6art Thanks. I'm a member of Centro Diffusione Origami and I usually buy the paper at their shop. In this case I used a kit for Senbatsuru, 1000 sheets 20 colors (I have not used the purple for the ring).

Slug by me. It's basically a point split with tail but I think it looks pretty lifelike :)
