I was stuck on the same part, and that helped me right out.
What sort of paper is good to fold this with?
is it really that hard to read through the thread?
it is stated numerous times that you need a large sheet of thin, strong, paper. i know 'cuz i've said it in nearly every post i've made to this thread. it took me 30 sec to find out that you have origamido, which would otherwise fit the bill, but 40 cm is a little on the small side. that's ok, you should still be able to finish the model, but detailing on the head will get annoyingly small (which is why kamiya himself recommends a 50 cm minimum for the first time you fold the model).
many folders have had success with tissue foil, but i actually don't think this is a great model for that medium. mainly because of those open sinks that you have to do around step 80, which are hard because there is no way to open the model and evenly spread the layers. i've said that numerous times, too. if you live stateside, and have access to kami, the easiest way to practice the model is to tape together 4 pieces of 25 cm kami. the model will not be presentable, but it will give you a gist of the pitfalls and difficult parts. if you screw up, no big deal, scrap it, tape together another four pieces, and try again (whereas if you screw up tissue foil, you've wasted the sheet, the time and effort to make it).
