i agree with el señor b. while i'm sure it's all meant in good fun and in a somewhat affectionate way (i also sense joshua doesn't mind), it is not flattering for the forum to gang up on a 12 year old.

i don't know the forum rules, but if joshua spamming his pics are a problem, then perhaps that's something best taken up with a moderator, as he has been asked politely to slow down on numerous occasions.

Hey, come on people. Josh is clearly not a skilled folder, but you have to give him credit for his enthusiasm, self-confidence, and designing talent. Maybe you're just jealous of the attention he's getting, but your comments serve no purpose other than self-aggrandizement. Please correct me if I am mistaken (I'm just a "Newbie") but I thought the purpose of this forum was to learn about origami, not showcase your own talent and degrade that of others.

el señor b, you are absolutely right. I have been offering Joshua advice to help him better himself as a folder and am happy to see that he has taken it to heart and is working to clean up his folds. His work is improving at a rapid pace. I have no ill feelings toward him at all, just toward that one yellow Ancient Dragon. He's a good kid. Just needs a lot of practice in the right form and technique (ie. slow, clean folding). We were all in a similar position folding-wise at some point in our life--we just didn't take so many photos and post them online!

Now can we please get back to what this topic is all about telling people how cool their new folds are…

Erm.... well.... not too bad.... but this doesn't exactly help your cause, sorry. You definitely need to neaten up if you're going to keep on using tissue foil. Tissue foil is no excuse for wrinkly or inaccurate models, you just need to take your time and keep the paper as nice and smooth as possible.

when I use tissue foil, I take time to flatten each crease with a bone folder (you can use a spoon or your finger nail) and smooth out the entire model after each step.

Josh, I'd say that you have a winning attitude and in a game of patience, time is on your side! I wish I would have started so young...
I love your fox design and would be willing to give it a go if you draw a cp.....
Keep up the good work and remember to smile big when you make a perfect crease; smile wrinkles are good everywhere except on paper!

thank you! im absolutly rubbish at cp's - drawing them and making them.
so im not going to draw a cp. also i would have made diagrams for it but it would simply take forever! no doubt this model has at least 150 steps! there are a few pictures of the design process on my gallery if you wish to see them. mabey this could give you a guideline on how to design your own? also, i love your models!

Must say Joshua, I've got respect for young folders like you!
The models you fold aren't easy and at your age it must take alot of patience and courage to make those. I think some members should think again about the comments they make.

At your age I couldn't imagine even starting with one of those models. And even though they're not perfect, you manage to finish very advanced designs. And I think for that, you should get some more respect around here. I can only dream of starting to fold a Satoshi Kamiya design, because I'm in some way scared to fold something that difficult. I'm still trying to understand advanced CP's so I've got alot of respect for what you do!


Plus, you are already inventing your own designs at a young age, and I think that is really great! Don't be discouraged by the critique, take it as an advice so can you get better. You've got my support!

Joshua, I started folding being very young too (then I stopped until 1 year or so).

I used to fold from 2 old books my father had, with no step explanations or cp's. I never finished some models because I couldn't understand certain steps.

Nowadays, you have the chance to ask people through the internet, learn from great documented books, try thousands of models and you even have access to many different kinds of paper(I always used A4 copy...)

IMHO, you should get advantage from that and evolve step by step, learning from bottom to top.

I can tell you via PM many simple and didactive models/books to fold and/or collapse if you want.
