How much time per day do you spend folding?

Post by DavidW »

How much time (on average) per day do you spend folding?

Funny enough I couldn't find by the search engine a similar thread. :)

Right now probably around an hour. In the past several months it would probably average to 5 minutes a day (because usually I just fold an intermediate model every couple of weeks or so).

Wow that is impressive! I am surprised by how many people spend a big chunk of their free time folding!

Wow, I'm surprised -- and more than a little concerned -- that people even have that much free time...!

I try to fold a few hours a week. I would love to fold more, but school and other stuff gets in the way.

Does designing origami count? What about mentally folding?

If you count doodles, then probably 3 hours a day. If not... then these days its less than one, mainly because of my complete lack of anything resembling decent paper

I think you call that a nervous breakdown.

But yeah designing and doodling count, I really meant anything origami related that wasn't just passively looking at pictures. You could be connecting modules for a polyhedra or deciphering a crease pattern or creating a circle packing or mentally tracing a folding sequence and that should all count.

I should have said how long do you spend doing origami instead of folding.

I do the exact same thing! I try to work out in my head folding sequences and such. I am very good at making the pictures in my head and making it like I'm folding a virtual piece of paper.
