i've posted this in other places, but there are multiple sources where you can get tant in the USA now, besides buying from origami shop.

the paper tree sells red shades in 15 cm... i'm not sure why they don't offer other kinds on their website, though i suspect they have more in-house.

kimscrane easily has the largest selection of tant now, selling them in blue, green, yellow, and red shades at the 7.5 cm, 15 cm, and 35 cm sizes, as well as the 100 shades pack, as well as individual packs of different colors at both 15 cm and 25 cm.

finally, fineartstore located in rochester, NY, also carries the blue, green, yellow and red shade variety packs at 7.5 cm, 15 cm, and 30.5 cm (oddly) sizes, as well as the 100 shade pack.

i leave it to individual shoppers to determine which one to use to get the most bang for your buck (for instance, 1 pack of the 100 shade costs more at kimscrane than it would if you got it from paperjade; $8.00 + $10.00for S&H = $18, whereas the $10.95 from paperjade covers S&H as well. however, if you buy four packs of the 100 shade, it will cost you ($8.00 * 4) + $10.00 = $42.00 from kimscrane as opposed to $43.80 from paperjade).

also, i bought a ton of the 30.4 cm japanese foil from fineartstore. that is a huge, huge steal for $4.95/pack of 24 sheets.

I got mostly thinner paper, as I plan on using it for more complex subjects. In my test folds they had a number of different thicknesses which worked for different models, and I saw a number of thicker as well as thinner papers for sale at Centerfold.

Okay, cool. I heard you use Elephant hide for insects, so I wasn't sure what to expect…

Thanks Bethnor, when I want more paper I'll look into kimscrane to get some small paper for modulars and some large paper for Origami Fantasy. I wasn't aware of how much tant is in the states now, awesome! :D

for those of you who don't know what ogami is (like me), here is a link with more information.

i'm intrigued. for those of you who have used it, do you need mc or wet-folding for finishing, or will it hold the crease? mc isn't in my repertoire yet...

I live in the UK and would like to buy some 6" tant but I don't want to buy from the US because of the huge shipping costs. I looked on Nicholas Terry's shop but they only seem to have tant left in shades of yellow, which is pretty useless to me. So, where could I find it?

anonymous person, I'm pretty sure that terry's shop is the only easy place to get it in the UK, I'm afraid... :( I'm sure he'll get some new stock soon though :)

Hmm, well I haven't gotten anything fancy lately. My girlfriend just found a ream of typewriter onionskin paper in her basement. The box looks like it's a couple decades old, but the paper is in good shape. Not really sure what to do with it right now!

Just a heads-up for you kids shopping at Origami-Shop. For whatever reason, logging into your account no longer removes the European taxes, or whatever it was that doing so used to do to the prices (lowering them).

Indeed, for some reason I change that. But now you can choose your currency (in $US for example)
And the rate euro/$ is not the official rate : its is lower. So, you pay now in $ the same price you paid in euro before without taxes.
In other words : choosing your currency, you obtain automaticaly the final price without taxes and so no need to login to know the final price (that's why I change : it's more easy for the customers)
Hope that's enough clear.

Ah...It just seems that (for instance) origamido paper used to come out to be about 8 dollars and change with the current exchange rate after those taxes were taken out...but now when i change the currency it comes out to 12 dollars?
