hi
i've attempted to make the dragon for the first time today using a 50cm square paper
. . . but unfortunately, about half way through the incomplete dragon was very very thick and the paper had started tearing
im planning to start over tomorrow using a thinner and larger size paper
however the largest size paper i can get is 50x70cm.
what would be the best method to connect 2 sheets of paper together
please reply asap. . . please

try to use thin tracing paper, which maybe you can find in the local stationery, if there is no paper, or you can order paper from Nicolas Terry's Origami shop.

tape together 4 pieces of ordinary origami paper.
the final model still gets very thick around the legs, but you will be able to finish and get an idea of the pitfalls/hard parts.
to make sheets larger than 50 cm, there are only a few options. you can try and find a roll of wrapping paper or kraft. these can be hit or miss, and it is very hard to tell in advance which ones will hit and which ones will miss. many folders have had good results with kraft IF they can find a roll whose weight is low (< 70 gms). in my experience, wrapping paper is usually too floppy, and large sheets can get very frustrating to work with.
you can also look around for large sheets of handmade papers, like mulberry. however, most of these will need to be resized with methylcellulose (use the search option to look for threads) to hold a crease well.
lastly, you can make your own large sheets with tissue foil or double tissue methylcellulose. again, search for the appropriate topics and ask your questions there.

I have ordered satoshi's book and a 40 by 50 sheet of origamido and I am eager to fold his ancient dragon, but i wanted to practice on other sheets before the origamido, since i only have 1 sheet of it.
I was wondering if big tant paper (80x80) would be a good practice sheet, as i have no MC or good wrapping paper. Also my tissue foil is quite small (30x30) so i did not think it would be suitable.
I apologize if this has already been asked but i do not have enough time to seach through the whole thread.

if you don't take the time to read through a few pages, why should anyone take the time to answer you?
anyway, tant is too thick. that's mentioned multiple times through the last few pages.
