Re:
Thank you! I think the same thing. Someone mentioned that this "magazine"'s website had an image of Chris Palmer's spinner on one of my Youtube comments areas. I went to the site and didn't find it and when I asked the poster where it was, he said you had to subscribe just to see the preview image of the magazine issue which wasn't even available yet. Hah-hah! Right. $40 for 6 issues that can only be viewed streaming online. This is a business model destined to fail IMO. This kind of reminds me of the Instructables site. Originally you could download a PDF of an article but then they went and made that available only to paying members, including contributors! I was really pissed off and commented about it. Now I can't even get a PDF of my own Instructables. They don't even give contributors, who are obviously their life's blood, a free "paid" membership. I never published another one since. This is exploitation at its worst.DavidW wrote:When you agree to the same terms from a completely profit based magazine you're just being played for a fool. Look at how much they charge for a completely unproven magazine? It costs them nothing to reimburse you with a digital copy of their magazine, and meanwhile they're taking $40-60 per magazine subscription with almost no overhead on distribution costs.
This is a very good idea.Joshua I've seen your models, you have talent. Hoard your diagrams and publish a book through Dover or BOS, people will buy that book and you'll have a bigger slice of the pie that way then giving it up to magazine like this.
Re: Call for Submission of Diagrams and Crease Patterns
Sorry for bringing up a late topic, but I just had to say this. I got some of these magazines and for what it is worth, they are very very very nice magazines. The diagrams are too simple but the CPs are outstanding, especially the one in Issue 5 (by Jang Yong Ik!!!).
