Valentines Origami Help

Post by miffi-lou »

Me and my boyfriend are not buying each other gifts this year instead are making them.

I thought this would be a different and cool thing to do, i was going to do something like a proper fancy dragon... but i dont even understand the videos for them....

Instead I was planning on doing a lotus flower, rather big one, and make a heart to go in it and a slightly smaller star as well.

Sounds crazy girly i know but i know he will love it, but this is where i need some help. I was wondering what people might think the colours for each of the origami designs should be? The heart i want red of course but i dont want it to be girly in colour as well as design.

Any suggestions would be very helpful

Thanks

That sounds like a nice idea for Valentine's day =). If you don't want the colors to look too girly, I would just go with white for the lotus. Then maybe go with a deeper red for the heart, like maroon. I think a simple yellow star would look good with that, or even a greyish blue one. Have fun!

Thought it is for websites it may come in handy.
A possible colour combination is:

Thank you very much for the help all of you :)
I'm sorted on the colour front now!

Just got one more problem now....
I want to do a 3D heart, found one I like the look of but the instructions confuse me and I haven't found another place that has the same heart design.
If anyone could take a look and explain what is means 'for dummies' I would be hugely grateful.

I've only got up to the top one as I don't know what it means by turn it around? And the following pictures don't seem to be much use either.

Thanks!!!!!

if the heart you are trying is above your skill level or the instructions are confusing you might try a different design. below is a link to a number of designs. The winged heart is nice.
