Then why don't you emigrate to Australia and buy it then :P It's kind of mean commenting only when I use kozo, as I'm using copy paper for most of the models I fold. Anyway, I've found a store selling Unryu by the Metre, so I may be converting completely to this paper. At the moment I'm busy folding robert Lang's crab, and that is why I have not posted for so long.

It's just that it's expensive, after all I don't want to waste my money on paper.

If anyone is wondering why there are no fresh pictures, it is because I have switched the computer I am using, and all the photos I took have not been transferred. Also, the school term's started 2 weeks ago, and I have not had time to fold any fresh models. Lang's crab, tree frog and eagle are still works in progress, and anyway, I've almost stuffed up crab and eagle.

At last- after three weeks of relative quiet on the origami scene, here are a few new models I have folded. Robert Lang's grasshopper, folded from a 21x21 square of copy paper. I know It does not look too good, but when you have not folded origami for a while your models tend to look like this

damn school- this is getting out of hand, I cannot fold a thing, no time. I will probably be posting regularly at the end of term 1, but until then, adios. I will not even bother, so pictures will not be posted., thanks.

I like your folds with the kozo. :) I will try to be much nicer to you from now on. Can I give you a suggestion. Buy some Kraft. It is a relatively thin, durable, wonderful to fold paper, and you can easily cut it into large squares. It comes in many colors , and slightly striped. Though I have to say, its not as good as those handmade papers (unryu, kozo, lokta), its dirt cheap because its meant as wrapping paper. And by the way, you said that your unryu was horrible? I know you might not have it right now, but to use unryu to its full potential, you must use MC, CMC, wheat starch, or something to make it crisper, else it is as bad as folding from unsized single tissue. :D

Best Regards

The kraft I've found in Australia are not the same as those nice stripy thin ones from Europe. They are just rough tough brown fairly horrible thick paper. There are some sligthly nicer ones but only available in huge big rolls and they are stil relatively thick (although I did managed a decent yoda out of it with the help of some mc).

The unryu I've found in sydney is also not as good as those I've seen overseas. They are thicker, courser and seem to be machine made with quite unnaturally vivd colours. The nice unryu I've found overseas are thin and see through with imprint of the mould that it's made in. They are so much thinner that you can see through a black sheet clearly. The brown ones I got in Sydney are so thick that you can't see through them.

On top of that they are expensive for that level of quality

All my best papers are either from overseas or the net...... :-(
