My first week into origami!

Hi,

I thought I would briefly introduce myself to the forum.

This is my first week into origami. I got inspired by seeing incredible pictures on internet, and after much looking around I decided it was time to try something myself...

After a couple of days of messing around, I thought I should try try Won Park's dollar koi.
I definitely underestimated it! But stuck to it... (all night :-) )
3 bills and 3 days later this is my result:

It still needs a lot of work, I have to practise the head, fins and tail a lot, but it's a start!
Also as I am from europe I don't have dollars, so I had to use fake chinese paper money.
It is not as stiff as dollars and rips very easily. Towards the end it was almost impossible to put new folds in...

Anyways I'm having a blast, I look forward to sharing experiences with you all!

welcome to the forum of the origami addicted, nicholas! if you're just starting into origami do, i wouldn't take a model as complex as this dollar bill koy to do so. but if you have to there's of course a possibility to get in hold of a real dollar bill - just go to the next money change office or the bank house of your trust and change a small amount of your money (euro?) into dollar notes ...

Welcome to both the Forum and the world of Origami. Like we can all see you're doing good so far. Have you worked after the diagrams or the video?

The paper that remains when you cut the largest possible square from A4 is also dollar proportioned.

I worked from both the diagrams and the video, which did make it confusing at times.

What I learned most until now, is the importance to understand the folds you are making. That way you can really focus on what is important...

I will give it another shot with different paper soon...
