First post, Richard Alexander's Koi as presented in "Advanced Origami"

Medium: Aluminum Foil (Shinny side)

AHHH! It is done! And now, I may rest.
I made this Koi four times as I was not satisfied with the results (paper, wet folded paper, wet folded construction paper...). Finally, I made it out of aluminum foil and VOILA!
Three hours later, 274 photos and countless retouching later, the very final shot proved to be the best.

I am very happy with this picture, everything came together soo well. The Koi adjusted and folded juuust right, lighting, shadows, angles. I love it. It's my new favorite picture.

Your fish is the perfect color for the paper. The light reflecting off the foil adds to the form of the fish I think. The light bounces off at the right places, which enhances the form of the curves...it accents and defines the curves actually. My eyes look at the water in the glass, which leads to the water glasses shiny reflection. Matching the color of the brightness of the reflection of the water, my eye is lead to the beautifully formed fish. The line that is created on the back of the fish that goes to form the tail fin is what gives the defining form on the slick fish. Also the reflection, I think, gives a "slippery" feeling to the "computer background" worthy fish. Well done on balance and the "modern" tone. Your composition amazes me.

Well done...Macte as we say in Latin

TL;DR - color.

Hmmm, I do believe this is called necroing a thread - I think you should View the OTF if you are enraged by my actions :-p (I can link to that, can't I? It is my own vanity thread afterall  )

The set was pretty monochron, but light can be warm or cold (yellowish or bluish) So after taking a colour picture, I then took the RAW file and passed it through software, Lightroom in this case, to make it look better and correct anything that I might not have seen.

Oh, and I guess I should post something, 24x24 satoshi unicorn. An oldie, but I don't think I have posted it.

Haha, you're a little late on that reply. Anyways, nice unicorn and koi. 24 cm is a little small, but your folding seems perfect. Keep up the good work :D .

I feel kinda inadequate submitting this picture, as it is not my best, (photography wise) also, I am seeing the MOST amazing folds from you guys, I have a lot to catch up on.

Satoshi Unicorn
Folded in Spring 2012
Made from my own double sided tissue foil, affixed with spray glue.

Issues with this photograph:
- You can not see the details of the Mane
- You can not see the hind legs
