Re: monthly folding challenge: August 2011
Hi everybody! It is finally judging time again. I'm sure you all are eager to hear the results, so here they are up front:
In 3rd place is an angel that was very creatively designed. It is very different than all of the other angels entered and still looks very pleasing. 3rd place goes to...
sinubuj's 5 Euro Money Angel

The angel in 2nd place was a more complex angel that was very well-folded. Taking 2nd is...
tanvuong85 with his 6-Winged Angel

1st place goes to a more unconventional take on the subject. It is very well-folded, designed and photographed. The paper choice is great, and though it is a simpler model than the other entries, it captures the subject perfectly. The winner of this month's challenge is...
Black~Terror's Angel Shark

This was a tough contest to judge-there were many, many good entries. One tough call that I had to make was to disqualify ZhangChi's incredible angel. It is beautiful and an incredible example of asymmetrical design, but it was folded in February, if not earlier, as evidenced by the date of the photo.
As I said, there were a lot of good entries, and I was planning on listing a couple of runners-up to congratulate people that barely didn't make the top 3. As I was going through the many entries, however, I had chosen at least 5 angels as runners-up! I couldn't decide which ones to cut from the list, so I congratulate everyone who entered-there really were no bad angels.
Finally, if anyone who entered would like feedback on their angel and/or would like to know why their entry was/wasn't chosen as a winner, please PM me and I will be happy to send you my thoughts. I didn't want to post any more critique than I already did here, because this post is already running long as it is! But again, there were a lot of great entries, so if you would like some feedback (good or bad), send a PM my way.
Great job everybody!
