I have figured out how to make the 8 point shuriken

Post by pupalisk »

The impossible 8 popint shuriken that is found here:
http://www.ninja-weapons.com/rangedweap ... iken.shtml

or the "saw like shuriken" has a step that is not mentioned.

Each of the 8 parallelograms you make have 2 sides. One side has 2 points, the other has 1 point. You put the 1 point side of one paralelogram in between the 2 point side of another piece. After connecting all the pieces, you should have a doughnut shape, but it is spikey. You must fold the spikes inward, so that they surround the 1 pointed side. Do this with all the spikes. Now, you should have the doughnut shaped figure shown in the instructions. It should be alot easier now.

NOTE: the shuriken isnt that good. it can't fly well, curves a lot, and almost always breaks on impact.

OTHER NOTE: I'm sorry if this is complicated, or not clear enough. I'll try to insert some pictures later.

To make them fly better, you can try to fold them with heavier wight paper, that should stabilize the flight a little bit.

I´ve found a very easy way to fold a one piece shuriken, but haven´t tested yet if it flies well, have to fold it with better paper first. Maybe I post pics later.

the 8 piece shuriken is more like a rose or flower. but, i managed to make it look more like a shuriken by folding every other spike inward, maing it into a four point shuriken rather than an 8 point one.

This one-piece one is pretty cool:

It has a fun folding sequence too.

Nice, looks like the two-piece one. Where have you found the diagrams?

They're in Tanteidan 9. Model designed by Jun Yamada, Shinji Sasade, Keiichi Kozasa, and Hideo Komatsu. At the end it is designed be folded exactly like the traditional two-piece one.

ad 1) No, since it is copyrighted material. You will have to get the book from here: http://www.origamihouse.jp/book/origina ... syu_9.html
Hint: Go for it while it is still available, you won't regret getting that book

ad 2) It's always a question of what kind of paper you are using and how you throw it.
So long and keep folding ^_^

No, sorry, as that book is available I can't show you how to fold it, but I can give a hint, that it starts from a pinwheel like this one:

http://www.tinyshiny.com/HowToProjects/ ... elPage.htm

Also, four people came up with this, so it's relatively straightforward.
