It's exactly like WhisperPuffin said. I have a very hard time seeing the details of your models because of the pattern, you should try to get your hands on paper without patterns.

Yah. If you have read my posts, I often mention how nasty my paper is, but being a kid, whose parents would spend a 100 or so dollars on paper? I really wish to have better paper, but for now, thats a dream.
EDIT: Oh yeah, Anna, my more recent pieces are folded by A4 paper. I would try to upload it as soon as possible.

You don't need to spend a hundred dollars on paper. You could for example buy a roll of giftwrap paper and cut it to size, some of them are really good quality yet cheap (sometimes you can get a huge roll for a dollar). Search for something that feels a little bit rough when you touch it, these work the best. You could also try to convince your parents to get you one of these packs. They contain 550 sheets of good quality paper, enough for quite a while.
Another possibility would be to make yourself double MC paper. To do so you would need some tissue paper, Methyl cellulose (dissolve some powder in a cup of water to get it the consistency of albumen), a brush and a smooth surface. There are enough instructions how to make it on the Forum and the things you need really cost only a few bucks.

Anna, that paper is great, but too small for my recent pieces.
The only good paper my country is Elephant Hide. Is it a good paper?
EDIT: Sry, just noticed the 35 cm by 35 cm paper, that would do fine.

Elephant Hide is rather thick but good suitable for tessellations and wet folding. But as far as I know this paper is far more expensive than some other papers you can get. May I ask where you are located, that may help in finding out what you could get cheap.

I was just editing my above post when you answered, my preferred paper is double MC paper.

Edit: Oh, there's a nice folding group in Singapore, maybe you can get in touch with them. I'm sure they can recommend you some places to get good cheap paper.

Even just plain white printer paper is good. That's very easy to find, and relatively cheap.
Like Anna said, gift wrapping paper is good too if you can find some without patterns.

I have a small suggestion for paper, until you get a chance to talk with other folders, locally.

1. Get a cardboard box, like a shoebox, to carry a few models - like the crab and the flower bomb. You might even consider making for few extra, as gifts.

2. Show these models to 1) your principal or teacher; and 2) the local library and ask if they have any suggestions for paper.

3. Also, show the models to a florist, the local garden shop, the local auto repair, the local butcher and ask if they have any suggestions for paper. Some of these vendors use large sheets of brown paper for wrapping or to protect the car.

If anyone gives you paper for free, then you might offer them one of your extras... or you might fold an extra with their paper and bring it back as a thank you.

I know wolf lives in Singapore. I believe she is Eileen Ng. He uses uryuu paper, but I don't know where he gets it from.
Is he in the forum?

spiritofcat, I mainly use printing paper. To me it is pretty strong and good for folding intermediate pieces. For more complex pieces that need a larger sheet of paper, I either use wrapping paper, which was for one of my centaurian dragons( it collapsed) or IKEA paper, which is soooo powdery and nearly impossible to do complex sink folds in.
