Yeah I discovered that after seeing the flickr account that it is indeed two seperate pieces. There is another CP floating around somewhere that has the two combined ... although I think it would be better to fold separately, in case you want a stand-alone model of either one.
28ths is definitely going to be tedious. I didn't enjoy the 24ths last night
Ah well, it can be done!

There's something that tells me that the Rock Star model might be 30x30, because then it would first be divided into fifths, which Phil did with the dwarf and it resulted in longer arms and legs. Anyone have any insight? It's hard to really know with counting the lines in the CP. I'm going after the longer legs and arms look.
The rockstar is a rectangle.
28 by 32.
edit: I suppose it may be 32 by 32 but that CP on flickr looks like a rectangle to me! I might be crazy though.

I just came across something that may be of interest for folding something like the dwarf ...
I'm sure a few of you have heard of Claudio Acuna's Human model. There was something shown in the diagrams that I thought was interesting ...
http://www.unpocodearte.cl/origami/diag ... as%201.htm
Basically he folds a waterbomb base, and then does some divisions and ends up with a similar pattern to the dwarf ... although his is in 16ths.
Anyone use this technique as a shortcut for a CP?

I have to agree ... the author said 32x32, but it looks almost identical to Joisel's Dwarf crease pattern, and if it were folded that way it wouldn't have long legs.
EDIT:
Should I cut the right side off, or the bottom? I'm guessing I want it to look more rectangular, like Joisel's mermaid, correct?

If you look at the Crease Pattern it should be clear what side to cut off, the CP is non-square (it is 32 squares high and 28 squares wide).
I really recommend you to print out the CP and follow the Creases for a first time when you can't manage to get them in correctly on your own. Afterwards you can always take a blank sheet and fold it a second time using the first folded sheet as a guide.
It's true that the guitarist and the dwarf are folded very equally.

I think that's the best advice ... starting with printing the CP. I guess I just wanted to go too hardcore with it. I printed the dwarf CP on this site, but I think it stretched to fit the paper ... it doesn't look square. When you print a CP, is there a setting where you can get the right dimensions and then just cut off the excess paper?

Haha, I e-mailed the author last night and wanted to confirm that this was the same CP that he posted for the guitarist separate from the guitar, he wrote:
"Uhmmm, no, it isn't. That's an impure version, from a
rectangle of 28*32, if i remember correctly."
Good eyes everyone! Thanks so much for your help and guidance by the way.

In his e-mail he mentioned that he made one from a square, which is the one you posted. I believe that's the same CP that results in the red guitar joined with the actual rocker guy. He said that the separate CP's for each give the same result, but it's just not "pure" origami.
I'm off work tomorrow so I'm going to try folding a dwarf, and then maybe this bad boy soon after. I'll post some pics as well.
