MC - Methyl Cellulose
i just had a weird experience with mc - 2 pieces of hanji:
i mc'ed one on glass, lay the 2nd piece on, then mc'ed it
they dried perfectly and were well stuck together.
then when i started folding, the paper started splitting apart. the more i folded, the more it split, to the point where the piece of paper became two very crisp mc'ed pieces of paper.
the paper were otherwise fine. Can someone tell me where I went wrong?

Sorry I can't answer your question - I just am adding that this has happened to me when I've bonded banana fiber paper and mango leaf paper together with mc. Not every time but a couple of times. Maybe it has something to do with the thickness of the mc. My mc is a bit different in thickness every time I mix it. Or maybe the papers just don't bond 100% and then don't hold up to the type of fold. I don't fold complex models so my papers aren't stressed too much.leung_wwy wrote: then when i started folding, the paper started splitting apart. the more i folded, the more it split, to the point where the piece of paper became two very crisp mc'ed pieces of paper.

just done my 1st attempt at MC'ing 2 sheets together, I have used 2 20cm squares of tissue i got in a discovery pack from my last order of paper.
Will post results up when I have some
Success!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
had a few fibres around the edges that needed trimming but it now appears I have created my 1st sheet of double tissue with MC
Now what to fold :S

Hi,
I've recently gotten some tissue and MC and tried making the paper, but one problem I keep running into is serious wrinkling when I put on the MC. After it dries I have these jutting lines coming out of the paper from the wrinkles. I've tried rolling something on top to flatten it but it rips the paper, and Ive also tried using my fingers to flatten the wrinkles. The finger thing helps but not a lot.
I thought it might have been a problem of MC:water ratio, in which I tried both thick and thin, but nothing changed.
I'm really not sure what to do. Is this how double tissue is supposed to turn out? Could it be a problem with the tissue paper I have (because I know for sure I have the right MC/are there different types of tissue paper)?
