yeap, the result wasn't so great, specially on the head's details, regular paper doesn't keep so well the multilayers of the head and the horns.

Hi, I have been lurking around these boards for a while but I decided to come out of the shadows tee-hee. :D

I need help with the wings, steps 185 - 197, specifically step 191. It tells you to rabbit ear the thing, but the diagram in step 192 doesn't look like it's from 191 (like there was a step missing or something). Do you pull out the layers inside the rabbit-eared flap?

Thanks much, more power to the boards.

exactly. Pull out the raw edges , fold the two layers in half and make the rabbit ear. Hope this helps! :P

Guys, I'm having trouble with steps 52-57. I can squash the tops and fold the flaps side to side, but when I do, the middle gets messed up. Can I have some help please?
I'm pretty sure there is more to life than folding origami, and I plan on finding out what that is if I grow up.

Im too having difficulties on the wings specifically on step 191, iv'e done the rest of the model but left the wings till last. I folded this from a 70x70cm paper and was wondering whether anyone would be able to show me how to do it.

Step 30

Post by Falknier »

Hello fellow origamiers? Is that spelled correctly? =p

I've started origami like a month ago, and i stumbled upon the Ancient Dragon of SK, so ofcourse like most of us "origamiers" -.-, we want to fold it!!! At first when I started origami I used regular paper and since i started to doing more complex models I searched like 4 cities and the only "useable" paper I found was tissu paper without methyl cellulose (MC). Now, to the point ... I am at step 30 and I am get so pissed off each time I start step30! I tried all sorts of things, I just dont get it or it's the tissu paper, i ripped already 3 50x50 papers because of this one, always regretting it =p. So, can anyone ,please! Help me wiht step 30?! or maybe someone who knows an origami shop near Sint-truiden, Heers, Borgloon in Belgium?

Thanks in advance =)
If you are having trouble folding it, rip the paper, start screaming and burn your house down.

Hi, I'd go with fellow folders. You should be able to get Methyl Cellulose in Belgium, just ask for wallpaper paste in building centres or maybe you can also get it at a pharmacy (E461). It's a white powder that you mix up with water until it has the consistency of albumin. Than you apply it to your paper with a brush and let it dry completely (for best results lay two layers of tissue paper over each other on a flat surface like a glass plate).

In step 30 the paper becomes 3 Dimensional. Just make the mountain and valley folds as shown and do not try to flatten!!! It stays 3-D until step 33 where you unfold everything.

Steps 51-57 are hard to explain but once you know how to do them they are really easy. 51 make the mountain fold surrounded by a valley fold on the left and one on the right (this one is shown) on the front and back of the paper at the same time and pull the paper apart a bit. The little triangular section shown at the top squashes out building a square with a valley fold in the middle that runs from the mountain fold on the front side of the paper to the mountain fold on the back side of the paper. Push the right side of the paper onto the left side so that the tips of the little square meet each other, then fold the large mountain-fold-flaps to the right in front and to the left on the backside. In step 53 carefully lift the huge flap. Now you repeat what you've just done on this flap, reversing the directions of the front creases. Then lay the flap back down and continue with the next row.

On step 191 I can't help, just rabbit ear like shown and don't be discouraged by the 3 Dimensionality of the model, after this step it will lay flat again.
