Usually I use two sheets stuck together but for the dragon, I only took one layer.
Unfortuantely tissue paper comes in a wide variety of different qualities, so some trial is necessary to find the right one for your purposes. If you want to make duo coloured paper, you will need non-bleeding tissue paper.

Even though the legs are so short, it just matters how you shape them.

Okay.

So I'm the newbie. I've only folded a few models and need any critics (pros & cons) that I can get. Could relate to paper, folds, photographing, etc. So here is my latest from last night. It is a stork from an old Isao Hondo book. It took me about 30 minutes. The paper is really cheap stuff I could get my hands on quickly from one of those kits they sell for $5.

hi,

nice bird, the solution for the wings is pretty nice, considering it is a simple and clean design, except for the legs, or "base" (I prefer figures who can stand on their legs

(I kind of dislike the "wire solution")). Your folding is almost perfect, except for the beak, try to get that green layer closer to the edge the next time

The picture is great, are you using a zoom and pedestal for the camera, or is your pulse so stable?

about the mantis, is a black-green double tissue square paper (9.4x9.4 in), fitted togheter with spray glue. I tried it a couple of times with normal wrapping paper, with frustating results (ripped and ugly layered final models), so finally went to the tissue paper and hopefully I could manage to get it, that's because I'm so happy (is really a hard model).
