I have played the violin for about 3 years now :-({|= . I have only just started grade 4.
I started flute 2 years ago and quit because of the teacher. Now i am going to try and teach myself.
In class we have to play recorder. I started the descant 5 years ago, the treble 2 years ago and the tenor last year.

I play clarinet and sax. I have been playing clarinet for 7 years and sax for 4. I am self taught on sax (it is a lot like clarinet) and I am going to begin my major in music education in college next year. I am pretty good compared with other people my age, but it's all relative :P

I've been playing guitar for round 40 years now (and so ought to be a lot better!). I had a flirtation with the pop business (10 years as a pro) and now play in a covers band (http://www.bettyblackmusic.com) and play and record solo ambient guitar pieces. Origami informs my music sometimes; there are music tributes to Philip Shen and Peterpaul Forcher on my site http://www.looping.me.uk and a link to my "paper music" compilation http://ct-collective.com/index.cfm?page ... albumid=25

I've been playing the clarinet since grade 5 (I'm 13 now)
Started the sax too, since it's the same kind of mouthpiece.
I have a clarinet and a sax, so I practice at home.

I have a piano, but haven't learned yet.
I rented an oboe from my school until the reed broke, took a break.
Now I'm trying the flute, but still love the clarinet + sax.

Wow, people here play so many more instruments than I thought. It's great! Does anyone find it hard to play multiple instruments ie. getting to lessons, finding the time to play, storing them etc.?

I definately can't fit 4 guitars, 2 violins and a piano in my room, let alone my house. I have trouble and constantly trip over the case of my steel string...

The hardest thing I find about playing multiple instruments is trying to be good at all of them. I only really play 2 instruments (clarinet and sax) and even though they are similar, I am not very good at sax. There are people that claim to play like 5 instruments, but they are, a vast majority of the time, spread too thin and they really arent good at any of them.

I don't have that much trouble storing the instruments in my house, because all the ones I don't use are in the cellar or under the piano.
Here's a list of all of them: I have a *Deep Breath* tuba, tenor sax, clarinet, trombone, trumpet, concert grand piano, oboe, half a bagpipe, mandolin, banjo, acoustic guitar, 2 electric guitars, electric bass guitar, snare drum, recorder, accordian, and a kazoo.

The tuba's borrowed from my school, it has three piston valves and is in very bad condition.
The tenor sax is borrowed from the school by my friend who tried and failed to learn it for jazz band.
The clarinet is my friends main instrument, he's quite good at it.
The trombone my dad bought for $150, it was my first instrument.
The grand piano is my dad's who inherited it from his dad. It is very old and out of tune but still works great.
The oboe is another school instrument that my friend tried and failed to learn for concert band.
The half a bagpipe is just the pipe without the bag which my friend got from his uncle. If he learns it well then his uncle will give hin the other half.
The trumpet is my brothers. My mom got it from one of her friends for free. It's very beat up.
The mandolin my dad got at a yardsale. It's missing all its strings and is cracked on one side.
The banjo is in the same condition as the mandolin, it smells like cigarette smoke.
The guitars are my dads. I don't know where the acoustic came from, but he bought the electrics for a few hundred dollars.
The snare drums snare is broken. We got it at a yardsale for about $10.
The recorder I got in 4th grade music class.
Th accordian my aunt gave us because she no longr needed it and it was just taking up space.
The kazoo came from a birthday party I went to.

I also have 2 large baskets of percussion, a set of bongos, a mandolinny thing that no one seems to know the name of... 4 thumbpianos, heaps of recorders, tenor to soprano, and so much more, geez half of it is under the piano!
I have trouble fitting it because of one wall in the music room which is shelves filled with manuscript.
That takes up so much space!
