If you can't figure this out on your own, this model is definitely over your head. Fold something else, gain experience and when you have enough experience you will know on your own what to do next. It doesn't make sense to start with such a complex Crease Pattern when you don't even know the basics.

i have no interest in folding this model (no patience), but for my own intellectual curiosity, for those who have, did you actually lay out an 80x80 grid?

hats off if you did.

Crease patterns only have 1 step.

"Fold along the lines"

If you can't even figure out the grid of the model, you have a very strange definition of "figuring out how to make it".

bethnor: I folded paper in vertical into 80, and horizontaly i made 32 from top and 32 from bottom, central part doesn't need to have vertical lines, and dividing into 80 isn't so hard, first you divide it into 5ths than each 5th you divide into 16, and here you go :D

I wonder how much time would it take for such a beginner like me, before I will be actually able to fold Ryujin 1, 2, and 3.5?

It depends on how fast you learn. Just begin with folding simple CPs and work your way up. The Rju Zin CP itself is mainly boxpleating, therefore not really hard, but you need to gain experience first. Try for example to fold the Dobsonfly by Brian Chan, it's a good beginner model. And it is very important to go away from printing out CPs and folding these. You need thin and strong paper that is good shapeable for Boxpleated models therefore you won't succeed with printer paper. Begin with folding the grid then fill in the additional Creases. The next step is collapse everything and the last step shape to your liking. On most boxpleated models the precreasing step is the fastest and easiest step and the shaping the longest and most difficult step. Always keep that in mind when beginning with CPs.

I hope you don't mind, Froy. :)

Hi! It's been a long while since I've been active on here. I deleted my Dropbox years ago, so some things, like my Dragonfly Varileg guide, are lost to time. I may still have other things, though! Email me if you have any questions.

Where did you find them? They aren't in his photostream.

it's not the difficulty. it's the tedium. i can barely bring myself to make a 32x32 grid. especially when you work with foil, as i'm sure you all know, the process is even longer as you have to take care to smooth out the creases you made.

precreasing on the order of hours saps a lot of fun out of the process, IMHO.

He sent them to me via e-mail a few weeks back. He didn't want the guid on his photo-stream because he was worried about copyright issues.
I guessed that it didn't really matter anymore, seeing as Kamiya has released the CP.
I still hope you don't mind Froy.

I must agree. Especially in the case of tissue-foil, just because you have to smooth the crease out. When I did the grid for 2.1, it took me about 2 and a half hours. :x

Don't thank me, thank Froy. :)
