Just make all creases as accurate as you can... And try to get somewhere a big sheet :)

And hey, mine's not perfect either...

Like I promised, here's better pictures:

i make the folds the better i can, but somehow the paper seems to be a mess... also i cant give it shape, it goes back to its place... maybe it's the paper i use, its really cheap (in dollars its about 0,10 cents per sheet of 2m x 1,5m) and i dont think its used for this origamis... but i cant find here good and big origami paper... i've triyed this model about 6 times!! maybe the key is practice!

How did you do the final shaping? 40gms kraft paper is not hard enough to hold the line / shape well. You spray corn-starch to make it hard?

I inserted some wire inside the legs and wings to keep the primary shape. Details are wet folded... It may have been possible without wire, but I didn't have patience (the final shaping already took about 2,5 hours)

And yes, someone might think it's impure to use wire (or even wet folding), but I wanted a display model, and it's enough for me to see I could theoretically do it from one sheet.

For a starters, read this

I bet there's a thread about wet folding here, but I couldn't find it quickly...

EDIT:
OK, two of them actually:
viewtopic.php?t=3011&highlight=wet+folding
viewtopic.php?t=1196&highlight=wet+folding

also:

I usually dry fold models, and if it looks like they need some intense shaping in the end, I just dampen the parts needing the shaping (like horns in the case of ancient dragon).

Need help with step 84-85-86

Post by Vash »

Can somebody please help me?
When you fold the corner from step 84 will it look like step 72?
Because when i do the open sink fold from step 85 i don`t quite understand what to do with the little triangle.
Thanks :)

As i can remember, yes it will be like in step 72. just sink it, and when you will sink the layer behind, paper besides the layers will be sunked twice, like in circled area in step 86

paper in first pic looks very good. I see that you did the same thing with the leg as I do :D

in my ancient dragon I shaped the wings in different way, and curved the tail. looks much better now. I hope that my next try will be perfect. I just haven't got any colour and huge paper.
