Pig by Quentin Trollip

Post by Sara »

I folded Quentin Trollip's pig (http://www.liveorigami.com/listings-details.php?id=99) today:

The picture shows the pig before and after shaping. Can you guess which one's which?

More info: http://www.happyfolding.com/gallery-trollip-pig (but not the answer to the above question, I fear...)

The one on the left is shaped and wetfolded! :D
Nah, I know its the one on the right that is shaped. Nice attempt, though the shaping could be improved. Your paper seems to have gotten to heavy and crumpled. Still, the nose is awesome- I like it! Plus, I think of all the attempts so far, you have shaped the most.

Well, I haven't done much wet folding yet. I've folded with damp paper two or three times before, and this is the first time I attempted folding with dry paper, and dampening the finished model for shaping. I hope with practice I will get better, but I'm happy that it worked as well as it did. It's also the first time I folded with double tissue, and it was hard to handle when damp. It got kind of wavy, and I had to be careful not to get rips. I might have dampened the model a bit too irregularly - I just used a wet cloth. And my impatient self decided to use a hair dryer...
More experimenting required. :)

Yeah, it takes many tries to get it. My first try was real crap, and now, at my second try, I'm still unable to shape the ears and head.

swallow by sipho mabona

sipho lately taught the bird at the german convention. in the workshop we had time just for one try and i didn't manage to remember all the steps when i tried to fold a fellow for the first bird the very next day.
now that i've opened the prototype and spent a lot of time with refolding i found a way to do a copy. at least it's not really the way sipho taught but the result looks quite similar, doesn't it?

Sara-a great tool for impatient wet-folders is a microwave. Pop it in for about 30 seconds and it will be very nearly dry. Just make sure you don't have any metal clips holding the paper in place!

Here is my quick attempt.
I think I got all the points in the right places, just need to shape it a bit.

Edit:
I started shaping it and found that it made quite a nice little Anubis, so here is my Anubis version.

And a reference pic of Anubis:

I also had a go of folding Quentin's Pig.
I only used 10cm paper though, so I had to leave out some detail from the feet, and I had some trouble with the closed sinks for the face.
Fun to fold anyway though.

spiritofcat, the pig is pretty good, you shaped the porker pretty well. The anubis is also a quite good adaptation to the common base.
!tyza!, Is it possible to double the grid to thinnen the arms?
