Satoshi Kamiya - Praying Mantis (CP)
I just picked up my Tanteidan magazines from the post office and I have been trying to find the recerences but I can.
I can read some Japanese and what can I understand is that all the base is based on 22.5º. (Kamiya also says that the base is very easy to fold)
I just need some references points.
Thanks in advance.

Welcome (again), WhisperPuffin!
I don't actually have the CP, but I am going to make a wild guess that it shares the same reference point(s) as Kamiyas Eurypterus:

Hi! It's been a long while since I've been active on here. I deleted my Dropbox years ago, so some things, like my Dragonfly Varileg guide, are lost to time. I may still have other things, though! Email me if you have any questions.

Re: Satoshi Kamiya - Praying Mantis (CP)
sorry to revive an old topic but........can anyone help me locate reference points? I see biernakci's reference to get the bottom point...but where to from there? How does one determine the angle's eminating from this point? any help would be appreciated.

Re: Satoshi Kamiya - Praying Mantis (CP)
I haven't seen the CP for this model, but the OP says it's based on 22.5. So given the reference point Artur posted, crease perpendicular to an edge. Bisect that, and bisect again. 22.5deg is 1/4 of a right angle.

Re: Satoshi Kamiya - Praying Mantis (CP)
is the base folded by FROY correct?
Re: Satoshi Kamiya - Praying Mantis (CP)
using diagrams from origami tanteidan #20--what exactly is happening in steps 175-6? i can't seem to do it without distorting/deliberately ripping the paper.
Re: Satoshi Kamiya - Praying Mantis (CP)
i don't post much anymore, but i haven't noticed a lot of attempts in the gallery section.
as far as praying mantises go, it's actually still easier than the one from OI1, and actually easier than many other kamiya arthropods--no open in and out sinks where the model is locked, etc., etc., and the final result is very pleasing. the sequence is long winded of course, but the precreasing isn't that bad (it's fun finding "clean" ways to find the references). you will need paper of zero thickness though, and even at 50 cm and the jaws get painfully tiny.
