On the convention tour of the tanteidan convention in japan this year, i went with yamaguchi, kamiya, jason ku, jun sakamoto and others to the expo and in front of the indonesian pavillion we saw this:
jason ku wanted to fold it and tryed it in the bus on the way home different times. he wanted me and kamiya to fold it too, but until now i did´nt try...maybe i´ll try now. and when your interested, you can do so too...just another challenge.
i'm always intriqued by how one would go about figuring out an origami model for that. So many major and minor details to overcome. I will definately give it a try.
of course, there are many details, too many that you´re not able to fold.
i will not fold all the details. just the bigger ones, like the stripes of the clothes and the fingers with the claws, and only use pleat folds for the wings...not every single flap.
IIRC, someone did a multi-piece version of this years ago. The photo was in an old NOA (Nippon Origami Association) magazine, and it was based on a painted version of Garuda (white skin, with red, yellow, green, and black feathers & ornaments). If I can find it (don't hold your breath), I'll post a photo.
It's amazing
I made my eagleman model taking inspiration from this!!
In fact it's my profile picture
It's a part of my culture.
My model is not great but it is simple http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1TnrzTtneEc
