Treemaker: Making a plan view base

Post by kevin89 »

I've been using treemaker for a little while now and recently attempted to make a plan view base by following the tutorial, but it wouldn't work.
After I insert the second node and Action->Scale Everything, the bottom two nodes pull away from the middle, (basically, they shrink). I've even made it the same size as in the picture, Ti-2-8. And when I do
Action->Scale Selection, it says there are no movable nodes.
Also: the problem seems to be that the new node is moving the other nodes around to make space, rather then shrinking to fit in the allotted space.

I finally figured out that I had to change the strain in the inspector window to match the pictures, but how would I do this on a different model? How would I find out what the strain needs to be or how do I get the computer to get it for me? :?

I am trying to make one of my models a plan view base so any help would be very much appreciated!!

Also, what are the requirements for active paths? I have and have read Origami Design Secrets but still don't know what creates them. At first I thought they were where ever nodes touched, but those are axial creases, and there is an active pathe between two nodes that aren't touching in that tutorial...
