Satoshi Kamiya's Ancient Dragon

I recently got the book The Works of Satoshi Kamiya and I started to fold the Ancient Dragon. All was well until i hit a bump at step 55. I don't know what exactly is being done in that step that you have something to squash fold and pleat. What exactly is being done there?
