Considering there are roughly 8.7 million species on earth, 90% of which have not been identified yet, I think the list might be pretty long...

I don't know why, but the Caddisfly popped into my head. Not the fly itself, but the larva which builds itself a rather neat mobile shelter. And they are not short on variety (I have been over the thread and I haven't seen it, but apologies if it has already been mentioned):

I just had to revive this topic. I found the armadillo lizard. Would be great challenge for people that like scales!

Re: Animals that haven't been done...yet
Yes and no. The problem is that many species look very equal, making it hard to distinguish between them. Those tiny differences are hard to capture in Origami. Sure there are some advanced models with many details, but Origami is limited when it comes to incorporate colours, colourchanges and a high amount of details. Lets take as example Leopards and Jaguars. Most people wouldn't be able to tell them apart in real life. It is near to impossible to make Origami models detailed enough to tell them apart. In this case since you will most likely not include the fur pattern, most people will probably guess your model would resemble a tiger or depending on the amount of detail, maybe just guess it is some kind of cat or dog.Fluffy wrote:There is A LOT of animals not done yet... i'd say less than 30% HAVE been done already.
Of the known distinctive looking animals almost all have been done in Origami. There might be some lesser known ones that haven't been done yet, but a lot of them aren't distinctive enough that anyone would recognise them.
Someone on this topic asked for a sea cucumber. How do you make sure people realize it is a sea cucumber and not a cucumber, sausage or something else? Most sea cucumbers look just like a big brown/black sausage.
Sure, there are some insects that look distinctive and haven't been done yet, but most of them are only known to a small group of people that have a special interest in insects.
But to contribute to this topic: An animal I don't yet know an Origami model of is an Agouti.

The generuk has been done by quentin trollip and by lionel alberino.
Grasshopper/ mantis like creatures have been done. Musquito has been done, although there are very few lifelike model.
That frog (breviceps) is great. All body/head with legs. Might be fun to design!

I'm planning on do this animal as soon as I figure out how:

It's gonna be hard to make a trunk, ears and horns.
