Updated the list on the front page

leaf tailed lizard model. It's not 'pure' origami (multipiece, and knotology) but it's brilliant, there is youtube video aswell, it can move

Vicuna has been done

Very nice!

I'll spend the rest of my afternoon picking out an animal I want to design, and maybe do some test folds

I have no clue what so ever what that is. I looked at it for 5 minutes and still couldn't figure out what side the head was on haha. Maybe the non-latin name would help!

Ps tried to come up with a cotton top mandarin and failed, and tried a astaria, the bird with the enormous tail feathers. Did create something else, but i'm not sure what it is...

I'm attempting a Ribbon Tailed Astaria right now. The color change doesn't look too complicated, but I'm probably just saying that because the only thing that I've designed is an elf with 10 too many flaps, it's out of proportion and impossible to collapse(I haven't collapsed it yet).

EDIT: I'm doing it with book symmetry, with the head behind a center flap with nothing above it to shorten it and make it smaller in proportion with the tail.

@ dragon: I'm really wondering how it will look. I destroyed 4 pieces of homemade tissuefoil and still couldn't come up with a way to make two huge flaps to create the tailfeathers. Maybe I'll give it another try.

I am box pleating with a 64 x 64 grid, and the tail flap is the whole bottom half of the paper.

EDIT: My first try kind of worked, although I messed up on the collapse and the legs were too small, I'll retry it with larger legs. The tail is huge compared to the rest of the model.

Sounds sweet. Just did another owl while watching tv, also boxpleated. It's just the only model I ever done that looked nice using boxpleated. I'll have to practice that stuff more!
