Origami and 3D Modelling software

Post by Harpseal »

Hi, i've been using blender 3D for a while now (http://www.blender.org) and i've attempted basic orgami on it with no or little success.
This probably isn't specifically about blender, but has anyone seen/used/tried origami in or with advanced 3d modelling software (3ds, maya, cinema 4d etc...).
I was considering using it to draft/play with ideas etc (looking at UV maps, seams, etc) and there may be other benefits from it as well that i discover when i try it.
(basically i'm just generally interested :) )

Please just generally discuss origami and 3D Modelling, if you try some stuff, post it here, i'm interested to see what we can come up with. :)

EDIT:

I found this blenderartists origami competition thread.
It has been done, and is obviously enough of a considered idea to be a competition topic.
