truthfully, just plain luck, and Joseph Wu seems to be an easy resource, because he has done more tribute models (except michael lafosse and his butterflies) than anyone I know about. :D

as to any such models by spanish authors, no success so far, but I'll keep an eye out!

seems I have better memory than I have been giving myself credit for.

Re-reading my post about Cecil, the lion made me realize there has been another model done to commemorate the death of another animal a few years ago, Lonesone George, the last Pinta island giant turtle:
