Origami ebook

Post by origamiaddict95 »

Hi fellow origami enthusiasts,

Like minded, I am considering attempting to make my own e book but i dont know what and how is the best way to do it. Any suggestions and recommendations? What are the pros and cons about making one? What are the limits and extends that i could hit or not. More tips are warmly welcomed! :D:D

If i feel i have the motivation to make then i will start diagramming altogether during my free time!

I don't know exactly what to say. Just go for it and be proud of the journey and the destination :).

Two or three simple suggestions: Don't forget the page numbers, the copyright page is always important, and the table of contents is too :).

Have you browsed about this topic here in the forum?

origamiaddict95, what's your goal? Do you just want to get your work out there? Earn some money? ...

As far as I understood your post you have not really started diagramming yet.
Why not start by diagramming a single model rather shooting for a complete book(let)?
That's a lot less work and might be as rewarding.

You can just post them online for free, you could sell them (e.g. The Origami Source - OrigamiUSA), submit them to a magazine (MiniNeo etc.), or send them to a convention.

For example you could first submit them to the Christmas Origami Book and later on send them to a convention. If your submission gets accepted you usually get at least a free PDF copy of the whole convention book and sometimes they even snail-mail you a hard-copy (I personally find the latter particularly rewarding). There should be more information elsewhere on this forum.

Once you have diagrammed (and published) a few models you can still consider to compile an e-book.

If you really want to go directly for an e-book make sure to have somebody proof-read your diagrams and you should also consider to make the photographs of the finished models look a bit more professional.
